Truck Driving in Wrong Direction on I-575 Off-Ramp Causes Injuries and Fatality

The intersection of I-575 and Riverstone Parkway is one of the more dangerous ones in Canton, with 110 crashes in just one recent year. Unfortunately, Canton residents have suffered another tragedy on this road – leaving one dead and two seriously injured.

Canton Police Department officers responded to a fatal crash just before 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 18. They found a white Chevrolet Silverado truck and a blue Honda Accord on 1-575, just south of the Riverstone Parkway northbound off-ramp. Both vehicles had heavy damage.

The driver of the pick-up truck drove the wrong way on the off-ramp and hit the other car head-on. Both drivers were severely injured and taken to the hospital for medical attention. However, the passenger in the other car died in the crash.

According to news reports, crash investigators are still looking into the head-on collision.
